a tribute
i never thought i'd do this, but as a daughter, this is needed.

not long ago, IJN made headlines when they finally did a heart operation on a girl with mechanical heart. and my dad was involved in it.

yeah k, i'm sorry for the spamming, but i feel that this should not be kept behind a lj-cut. sorry for being selfish.

at first, i acted normal when i saw my dad on the paper and in the news. to me it was like no big deal. he's done so many operations before, got into news and travelled overseas before. even was interviewed in a health program show.

but my mom was excited and so were my sisters. and i didnt feel anything.

and then i went for my family's friend's open house and met my parents' friends. and all of them said, "Congratulations Rais!" "We're very proud of you!"

and i started thinking, if these people can be really proud of my dad, why aren't I feeling the same way?

then i thought, i am proud of him. i just didnt know how to show it. i've fought countless times with my dad, i guess it must've been the ego.

so here, where i usually express myself, i'll express how proud i am of my dad too.

a tribute to a father.

For a father who worked 24/7,
who returns home late at night,
who sacrifices his time to be with his patients,
who take his patients' deaths personally

For a father who keeps on going,
taking care of his family,
taking care of his parents,
his brothers, his inlaws,
and people who are not even related by blood

For a father who never gives up,
on teaching us daughters,
from primary to secondary,
and if i were to take up science,
you would still continue to teach me

For a father who rarely home,
whose time off is really precious to us
and come vacation, we really treasure them
those moments with you

For a father who hides his pain,
his slipdisk,
his heart problem,
his health,
to take care of not only us,
but other people too

For a father who raised us up,
for a father who saves lives,
for a father that is wonderful
for a father that is patient,
for a father who still keeps on going,
for a father that does not give up,
for a father that help without asking for anything in return,
for a father that makes us laugh

and for a father that i am proud of,

it doesnt need a father's day or a hari raya to convey these feelings,

i love you and thank you for all you've done.
